I am looking at doing a little staycation for my birthday in early March and renting an RV and staying at Fort Wilderness.

As I don't own an RV I was looking for recommendations of places to rent from. Bonus points if they company will bring the RV and set it up.

Also, I do have one dog I would like to bring. Do RV rentals charge extra if you have a pet?

Here is some that I looked into a couple years ago, I ended up staying at a resort. Kissimmee Orlando RV Rental, Wilderness Camper Rental & Florida Camper Rental. But there are more, all you have to do is google Fort Wilderness RV Rental or disney world rv rental. I did notice that at one of the places they only had certain campers set aside for people with pets and they had a weight limit.

Try Camper Rental Adventures we have heard many good things about them

Disney approved vendors, can come in and set up the trailer for you. Then they will come pick it up on check out. You need to book the level of the site you are going to stay on. So considering that March is Spring Break with appropriate prices, and then renting a trailer, it maybe cheaper to rent either a Cabin at the Fort, or a hotel room.

But they are looking at bringing their dog, which eliminates those options. Now, if they decide to board the dog, then yes that would probably work out better and definitely easier:)

Q.

Do you have any pet-friendly hotels?

A.

Yes. As part of an ongoing pilot program, 4 of our Disney Resort hotels have designated dog-friendly accommodations, including:

Thanks all for your responses so far, just to answer some questions my birthday is March 2. So I think we'd just beat Spring Break. Might look at doing Sun-Fri.

The dog is 32 pounds, he doesn't HAVE to come with us but we thought it might be nice.

Give Meachams RV rental a call, they have pet friendly campers and are an approved Disney vendor which means you get Disney quality service and they can deliver and set your camper up for you even before you arrive.

We had a great experience renting from Meacham's a few years ago. We just booked a pet friendly RV with them for August. You have the option of renting a golf cart as well. They set everything up for you.

We are here now renting from Camper Rental Adventures and it has been a perfect experience. They arrived when we texted the site number and set everything up super fast. The rental includes camp chairs and an outdoor rug, toiletries, towels, cookware, and bedding. Our camper is clean and in like-new condition. We also were able to rent a golf cart and fire pit. So much fun with none of the work of set-up/tear-down. We will definitely use them again!

Just looked them up, resonable i think and the campers looks nice and new. Plus they have disney stuff in them to boot. Lol. On the site they also said they have christmass dexor for the site also. So a one stop shop. Rates for the lower end campers about 150 a night for a quad bunkhouse and queen bed. So 6 people easily. Add the site and 300 a night for 6 people isn't bad at all for a fort stay. ( give or take on the time of year of course).

Another vote for Meacham's. We used them three times before buying our own RV. Everything went flawlessly.

Unless you have your heart set on staying in an RV you may find it's equal or less expensive staying in a Cabin then paying for a RV rental and site. The Cabin would get you more space and mousekeeping as well.

We have a bunkhouse reserved for June with a premium site booked. We got the golf cart package from Meacham’s.

The numbers work out like this. A cabin rental with the summer discount and adding in a Disney golf cart is $200 cheaper than the RV rental. At rack rate, the cabin option plus disney golf cart was $300 more. I booked before the promo was released.

So the prices are super close. We could have saved money by getting a smaller camper or dropping the golf cart or going with a full hook up site. But we booked what we wanted and are looking forward to a fun trip.

We have stayed in the cabins twice. We enjoyed that too. We owned an RV and loved going places in it. Part of me wanted to do the RV for nostalgic reasons. :)

Can't say I blame you there, I totally get the nostalgia part. My parents just bought their first RV (a used 2004 39 ft Class A) after years of boating. They are planning a few week trip down the East Coast in April but starting in earnest in the OBX and making their way to FLA. I convinced them to stay at FW. I am surprising my DD and we are going fly down and stay with them for 7 nights in the RV at FW. It will be our first time at a campsite after 3 Cabin stays and a fourth one planned this summer.

A lot of people assume that renting a camper and a site will be much cheaper way to do Disney and not realize they can get more for the same or even less. A buddy of mine priced out a trip to FW with his own RV and compared to renting points through David DVC rental, he's stayed at FW numerous times. He said he was amazed at where he could stay for just a little bit more money through David's and get mousekeeping and more room.

We did a staycation last March at FW renting an RV for about 5 days. The rental was swapped for a different model only a couple of days before they dropped it off. It was an incomplete set-up in my opinion. We did get a golf cart with the rental and worked great. But, I am not going to use this vendor again.
