Does any one know if there is a place near WDW where a person can rent a wheel chair and would the wheel chair company deliver to you hotel or is there a place on WDW itself

Last year I rented one from Walker Mobility. They delivered it to the Polynesian and was waiting for us when we checked in. At the end of the trip we left the wheelchair with bell services and Walker picked it up from them.

If you go to the DISabilities board you can find recommendations for others that provide wheelchair rentals. I didn't have any problems with Walker and would use them again.

If you're looking for a manual wheelchair, they can be rented in the parks, or a very limited number can be found compliments of the disney resort hotels. At the parks, the rental is $12/day- and if you hop you can take your receipt to the next park and pick another chair up, pending availability. However, its a LONG hike from the bus stop to the rental facility in each park.

As posted earlier, the disABILITIES board has a great list of off-site vendors. The upside is that you'll have your chair at the hotel and to/from the bus stops as well as in the parks. The downside is, of course, that you have to wrangle it onto the bus.

I *highly* recommend renting an ECV (scooter) vs a push wheelchair. You don't realize how many elevation changes thare are in the parks until you're pushing a 100+ (or in my case a 200+) pound person around all day. Frankly, it's exhausting.

Most of the companies will deliver to the resorts- the preferred vendors will leave your chair with bell services.

We used Randy's Mobility when my mom ended up with a broken foot one week before our trip. Their weekly rate for a wheelchair is $75...and I believe there is also a $10 off coupon you can use to knock the price down a bit. They offered free delivery to our rental house in Windsor Hills and I know they deliver to the resorts as well. We were very pleased with their service!

1) Why RENT a wheelchair?
2) You can gt a FREE one at any resort.
3) You just leave a credit card imprint as a security deposit. *
4) Then you can use the chair everywhere.

* Yes, a true imprint on those zip-paper slips. You cannot apply
to your room key. When chair is returned, the skip is returned
to you and torn up.

Because just like in the parks, supplies are limited

The ones at resorts are primarily intended for last-minute emergencies (i.e., someone gets hurt during vacation). There is VERY limited supply, the ones at the resorts are often not in the best condition to push around the park all day, and what's available may not be the right size.

If someone knows they'll need/want a wheelchair for the duration of their vacation, they should rent a good one. Manual wheelchair rentals are not terribly expensive.

these WC are actually meant for unexpected issues such as someone getting hurt AT the resort, not for people who know up front they will require one.

also they are usually in really lousy condition and tend to be extremely limited in number

We always use Randys Mobility. They deliver right to the resort for us and pickup too.

They have great customer service and I like that they dont charge an insurance fee for the wheelchair just in case it gets stolen/taken etc.
