Renting a "Villa"

I have a friend who would like to stay at a Villa because they are planning a May 04 trip to WDW with a large party (8 people, 4 adults, 4 boys).

How do you accomplish this? I know on the WDW website, you can book a stay like any other resort, but the prices are flat rates. How do you get deals, i.e., with codes.

I've seen codes for Ft. Wilderness Cabins, but none of the other "villas."

Do they have to rent points through DVC or do you just call with codes you have and see what is available?

Thanks.

I think the best bet would be to rent points. It will be cheaper, only problem might be availability of the owner to book at this late date. But it probably is possible. To my understanding as of last year before I purchased DVC they do not offer any discounts on Suites or Villas.

The Cheapest way to stay in the villas is to rent points.....

It is also my understanding that they very rarely if at all have discount codes

But at this late date the availibilty of 2 bdrm villa would be slim....

Disney Anna,
We just returned last week from a wonderful stay at Beach Club Villas, where we rented a 1 bedroom villa.

When we had our trip dates confirmed, I posted my request on the DVC Rent/Trade board, and within a day or so, I had the points.
Everything went smoothly, and I would definately do it again.

If you haven't checked out the Rent /Trade Board, here's the link:DIS DVC Rent / Trade Board

Any questions, let me know:)

Renting from a member will be less expensive. Just remember this is a private transaction between you and the member. This is not a reservation that Disney will have anything to do with or intercede if you have problems.

Many rent and never have problems. Some rent and do. You have to decide the risk.

As stated villas are very rarely discounted and hard to come by.

I agree that with your trip coming up so soon you might have problems finding availability with discounts, but if you plan in advance, they really aren't hard to come by at all.

We booked a 2br villa at OKW last summer. We could've had an AAA rate (not all that great) but we had AP's so we started out with that discount, then changed when we got an even better discount! We ended up paying a few $$$'s less per night than renting points and got daily maid service included. I'm not sure, but I think maid service is an additional $25-$35 per night using points.

Actually, both the AP discount and the discount we ended up with were less expensive than if we had rented points. If your stay includes weekends, the points are very high. Through CRO, weekend rates are the same as weekday.
Renting points can be cheaper, but not always. There are current code discounts for that time frame. I'd suggest calling and seeing if there is any availability.

Depending on when in May your friends want to go, DVC points rentals would be slim and far between for entire month of May, especially the end of May (what with the Member Homecoming events). They have offered discounts on some of the villas (mostly 1 bedrooms, if I recall correctly) last year with the Fairy Tale Package. We thought about staying at the BCV, but decided to go with the GF (we always wanted to stay there and did not want to use our DVC points to stay there).

Your friends may still be able to get something through CRO, though.

Thanks for all the great advice, I will pass it on.

The info is really for someone else, I think some of you think my "friend" is really me.

No, I'm a compulsive planner and can't believe these guys haven't booked their resort yet - esp'y since they want a villa. I took care of booking our trip months ago.

Thanks Again.:wave2:

I got an AP rate for an OKW 1 bedroom for a Friday night next month. $270 plus tax, about 30% off. Friday and Saturday nights are usually not practical for renting points.
