I need some help here from my fellow CDN Disers.

My car is somewhat "oldish" and we are driving to Disney in July.
I remember reading that it was far more economical to rent a Van vs. wear and tear on your own car. I have a few questions:

- Do you rent in Canada or over the Boarder?
- Which companies allow you to take the Van to Florida, and do they offer unlimited KM's
- what are the best rental companies to rent with to do this trip?
- Any good experiences doing this?
- Is it hard to get a Van with a DVD player in it?
- What is the pricing like for a two week rental.
- Is there any "special's" or coupons to do this (ie Entertainment Book)?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Just got back from a 2 week vacation in Florida. We rented from Alamo in Bolton. (closest location to Barrie and my in-laws live there)

This is why we chose to rent from there:
-unlimited kilometres
-able to take into U.S.
-DVD in Ford Freestar
-used Mastercard to cover extra insurance
-$1100 for 2 weeks, 2 days
-save wear and tear on own vehicles
-6 people travelled, cheaper than flying

Canadave - Thanks! That was the thread I was looking for.

Anyone have any recent experiences?

I just looked at Avis and they were quoting $649.03 USD for our time frame. This is out of BUF since DH will be flying one way and his car will be there upon return. The others were way over $1,000.US.

Should I call them and tell them we plan to drive to Florida. Or, should I just check with our credit card company and insurance company to see what is covered?

$320 US for 2 weeks, including daily outings to WDW, Universal, malls and orange picking. Plus $20 Canadian to leave it full when we returned it.

I was quoted $656 for 19 days from Avis downtown Toronto. It was a mid size car for late August to early Septmber.
