I would love to rent a sports car for my husband for his birthday. Anyone have any ideas of where I should look? I have tried all the usual rental companies, and can't find so much as a convertible. Didn't know if anyone had any ideas of any place else to look?!

Orlando or MI?

Hertz, some locations, rents cars in an "adrenaline" class. The cars include Mustang GT and Camaro SS. They also rent prestige cars, again some locations.

Otherwise google exotic car rental.

in Michigan. I have googled it, but don't come up with much. I will try hertz, thanks.

You may need to call Hertz and ask which location has the car you're looking to rent.

Hertz in Las Vegas had C... oh, I can't believe this. Oh! Corvette!

Also search "exotic car rental" online and (if you have one) in the phone book. Also check with car dealers, see if any of them rent their cars out.

So you're not surprised. You may get limited, or no, free miles. You may either have to purchase their insurance or be prepared to document your own coverage.

Your personal auto policy and credit card coverage excludes at least some of the exotic cars.

From a general agency perspective Hertz has the best fleet for "non" standard rental cars with their Adrenaline (formerly Fun Collection) and Prestige collections. Unfortunately the Corvettes are pretty much gone from the fleets, although they do still exist in small pockets, but are not reservable, only upgradeable.

If you want a true Exotic (ie. Ferrari, Lamborghini, etc.) you're going to need to look localized. I know in NYC, Boston and Miami there are a lot of choices in this arena, Orlando not so much and in smaller cities, very, very limited.

honestly, I really just want something fun. a camero, mustang convertible, something like that. a classic car would be even better. But my searches have all come up dry.

Oh. I found this http://classiccarfun.com/ and just looking at a few Ford dealers' websites, clicking on the 'rentals' tab brought up the same message: "Contact us". I would think any Ford dealer would be able to rent you a new Mustang convertible, and any Chevy dealer a Camaro.

Avis has a lot of the new Camaro convertibles in their fleets, check them. They're the V6 models and pretty basic in terms of equipment, but they're still fun (I had to rent one for a company event).
