Yes, we've had travelling ultrasound and mammography techs. Way back, like 15 years ago, the agency would provide a furnished apartment. Earlier this year, the agency offered the techs a monthly amount for housing. They didn't have to spend it all on housing. If they chose to live in a tent in the park, they could keep all the cash. Just kidding. They could, but they wouldn't.

I've often thought that there is an untapped marketplace where I live that could benefit traveling nurses and other contract employees that change locations. where I live it's common for someone to buy property and before they build a home put up a shop (think very large) but you can't legally live in those shops so they buy gently used RVs or travel trailers and live in them in the shops while their new homes are being built so they don't have to pay double housing. I've known a couple of people who were going to do contract work out of state and were provided a monthly housing stipend so they approached the newly homed homeowners who were thrilled to sell their still gently used (and no additional miles put on them) RVs' and travel trailers without having to put up ads or haggle selling them to used lots. the traveling workers put them to good use and resold them if they decided to put down roots (often ending up ahead of the game financialy when they ran the cost of short term rentals vs. what they paid for the rig and a lot spot).
