Renting a golf cart at Fort Wilderness if you're not staying there? (And cost question)

The last thread I saw on this was from September, someone asked the same question and everyone said yes, you can rent a golf cart without staying there. It seemed that most people were basing their answers on pre-Covid experiences though.

Given that resorts aren't allowing you outside guests to park without an ADR is it still the case that you can rent a golf cart as a non-guest? (We don't want to use Disney Transportation).

Also is it really $63/per person as the Disney website says? Other threads make it seem like that would be the price per day? $250 seems like a lot for a family of four to use one for a few hours!:duck:

Just curious, what do you plan on doing at FW for a few hours that would require a golf cart?

It’s $63 per day (not per person), but they recently changed the policy and require an overnight reservation at the Fort to rent a cart. You can try, but supposedly you will now have to provide a lodging reservation number.

That is correct. We are local and just wanted to rent a golf cart for the day/night looping and they required a lodging reservation.

Probably “looping” and looking at the elaborate Christmas decorations on people’s campsites.
We're doing a resort-only stay at Boardwalk in January and wanted to do as much exploring as we can around WDW, Fort Wilderness seemed like a fun place to check out and a golf cart seemed like a fun way to do it.

Guess it's not in the cards given the other responses about needing a lodging reservation...

Any chance this is only during Christmastime? We're coming mid-January.

I spoke to the bike barn today about our upcoming rental. The CM said, yes, it is a new policy that rentals must have a FW resort reservation. Honestly, I always thought that made sense. But unsure how it is going to work for campers trying to piece together a site reservation

Bummer, thanks for the follow-up. I agree, makes sense that the people staying there should get first dibs. Maybe one day they'll come up with a stand-by line if there are extras hanging around :)

Maybe this will be the end of the people booking a campsite early just to get access to ADRs (or FP+ if they come back) so only people who are actually using the campsites won't have to "piece together a site reservation".

I've rented a golf cart several times without a site. We did have dinner reservations at Trails End but sadly that's not an option now. If it's $63 a day now that's a slight break. I've paid $67 during December. As to the comment that it's expensive for a couple of hours, I guess it is but the rental is for a full day Pick-up at 1:00pm till drop off the following day. They didn't care if you drove it around for 2 hours or 20. I have thought of just putting our personal cart on a trailer and driving to the fort, parking the car and trailer in the overflow and doing the loops. I don't think that's possible now either. Being able to rent a cart for the day and take visiting friends looping during decoration times- Halloween and Christmas was expensive but a lot of fun.
Maybe we'll see it again when you can reserve a sit down restaurant but I don't see the prices going down.

I have found that cart availability is nonexistent for walk ups during Christmas, probably Halloween too. I've reserved a cart 6 months in advance for that time of year and that was on the fine line of them running out. The price is per cart, not per person.
