Renting a car??? Thrifty??

ditto....we reserved a minivan for 9 days unlimited miles total amount came to 347.61 and BOY did I shop around and Thrifty was the cheapest.

We have used Alamo "hot deals" the last two trips. I had a code for $10 off the weekend rate. I was able to get a car for about $35-40 for 4 days. Dh used them in May for a business trip. He had a SUV for 5 business days, for about $150 or something like that.

If you are a costco member you might try to link thru the costco.com site. They have discounts with most of the big companies. Oh, if you have an entertainment book, try that for discounts as well.

We are from Calgary so to us that rate is dirt cheap. I think that makes a difference because they asked us when we booked. Rentals are way cheaper in the States for some reason.

We just used Thrifty for our trip... we flew into LAX. I thought it was in the terminal but once we arrived we realized none of them are... or at least none we could see. You have to go directly outside of the baggage claim and catch a shuttle bus to the rental car places.

The Thrifty shuttle was there when we went out, so of course we missed it... but another came along in about 5 minutes. Once we got to the location (about a 10 minute drive), we were checked in, in a car and on our way in less than 15 minutes. We went with the compact and without an upgrade ended up getting a PT Cruiser convertable... perfect for California (just remember to wear sunscreen). Returning was just as fast and easy, we were back to the airport with time to spare.

When you arrive, after you get your car be sure to use Mary Jo's directions to Disneyland! They are the best!! She has them in a sticky but in case you can't find it here's a link to help you out.
This is the link to my original question, just scroll down until you get to Mary Jo's post. We just printed them out and followed them step by step. Try it you'll be glad you did!

I have noticed Thrify seems to be the cheapest.
I agree. ::yes:: I have been pricing a minivan for 8 days & they are the cheapest I've found so far. Dollar is a few dollars off & Alamo is ~$50 more. Everyone else is really expensive. :crazy2:

Awesome thanks so much!!! I would love to save some rental money and spend the rest on suveniors!!! pirate:

Thank you SO much for sharing this as we have never rented from the airport before only from within Anaheim. You probably just saved us a lot of time and hassle...much appreciated!

I was searching for a Mini-Van through Sam's Club and came across Midway Car Rental (put all 3 words together for website - I'm not allowed to post URL's yet  ). They are quoting a minivan for around $30 / day :yay: (almost half what I'm seeing at big name places).

Anyone have experience with this company?
