Hello,
We will arrive into Orlando International Airport at 12:03 am on a Friday. Will there be any rental car companies open at this hour?

How much would it cost for a taxi to take us to a hotel near Disney?

Thank you for your help! Laurie

Yes...
Hertz Orlando International Airport
5601 Butler National Drive, Orlando, Florida US
Phone: 407-859-8400, Fax: 407-888-5420
Hours of Operation: 24 Hours 7 Days

I would think the other well-known rental car companies also operate 24/7, but you would have to check with them. Hertz requires a short shuttle ride from the airport; some other companies are right in the airport. I use Hertz.

Plan on around $50 plus tip one-way for a taxi. Most off-site hotels offer poor transportation to the Disney theme parks (if they offer any transportation at all), and there's often a fee — so you'd probably want to rent a car anyway. You would probably be best off forgetting about the taxi and just renting a car at the airport.

If you decide to stay on-site at a Disney-operated resort, you can use Disney's Magical Express, a complimentary airport transportation and baggage service. And, once you get to WDW, you could use Disney's transportation service (buses, boats, monorails) to get around.

By the time you add rental car costs and $9 per day for Disney theme park parking, off-site lodging is no longer as inexpensive as it initially seems.

All the major car rental companies at MCO operate 24/7.

Thank you for the information. I used Priceline tonight to book a hotel. We received the Amerisuites near Disney World for $36.00 per night. We are 2 adults , no kids with us, and we are planning to attend the food and wine festival at Epcot.

I am considering renting a car through priceline and it is good to know that the rental car companies are open 24/7.

Thanks again for the info! Laurie

Laurie,

It might be cheaper not to use Priceline to get the car rental... with codes and coupons booking directly with the rental car company could be your best bet.

What are your dates and what size car do you need?

Even car rental agencies that aren't open 24/7 (OTHER AIRPORTS) generally extend their hours to accomodate customers, with reservations, who are subject to flight delays. Make sure the rental car agency has your flight information.

Thank you for your suggestions! Szymon, We will arrive in Orando at midnight on Thursday Oct. 18th, so car rental will start early Friday Am around 12:13 AM.
We will return the car on tuesday Oct. 23 for a noon flight home.

If you know of any coupons or codes that would apply to these dates, I would love to have them. Thank you! Laurie

Keep in mind that car rentals are for 24 hour periods. You may need to add an extra day because of your return time.

Personally, we like rental companies that are right in the terminal:
Alamo
National
Avis
Budget
Dollar
L & M

Especially if you're arriving late at night. The shuttle is just another step to take. You are assuming you'll rent your car at 12:13 with a 12:03 arrival but the odds of that happening are probably 1 in a million. Even if your flight isn't delayed, you'll be lucky if any luggage has been unloaded by then. I always book our car for 1 hr. after flight arrival time. If our flight is delayed or we have a long wait for luggage, I never panic that we will be considered a "no-show." If you get there early, they just change your pick up time in their computer, no big deal, they don't make you wait. Good Luck!

Budget has a midsize car for your dates for $124.46 including taxes/fees if you use the American Airlines discount .

It's VERY easy to rent a car at the airport. The rental agencies are one floor below the baggage claim, then you walk across the street to get your car. It's real simple. :thumbsup2

Thanks!!! I was able to get this deal too which beats my Alamo midsize for $144. For some reason my price was $125.34 but still a great deal. I hope they don't make me earn miles with American Airlines. Should I join AA's ff club just in case they ask? I'd rather have the 0.5 point with Southwest Rapid Rewards. Thanks again Szymon! :cool1:

I use National a lot out of MCO. With an Emerald Club Membership (usually free these days on the Nat web site) and a good company code, I get great rates all the time everywhere. At MCO the cars are right across the roadway from baggage claim. No shuttles. Very convenient. Especially on departure, from your parking the car to the check in counter in minutes if you are runing late. Of course the new no hair gel security regulations just negated a fast departure.

Probably safer to join AA's ff club in case they want to know your frequent flier number. Hopefully they won't notice :)

I recommend Hertz or National. Both companies are pretty reputable (although i do like Hertz a little more ;) ) and are very quick, especially if you sign up for the Emerald Aisle service from National or Hertz #1 Club Gold which allow you to skip the lines and proceed directly to your awaiting vehicle.

The first time you rent with #1 Gold you need to stop and sign some paperwork. The Gold desk is never that busy.
