Renting a car from National with Debit card

Hi,

I'm going to be renting a car from National. I only have a debit card with a Visa logo and I've talked to my credit union and they've advised me that National could hold more deposit money from my card since it's debit. I was thinking of getting a prepaid credit card. Has anyone ever used this to rent a car? I'm wondering how this would work.

Also, where can I get a prepaid credit card? My CU doesn't have them.

Never rent a car with a debit card if you can help it, use a credit card. Just search these boards for other threads on the topic or do a Google search as to the reasons why. I'm not sure a pre-paid credit card would be handled differently than a debit card; you should call National and ask.
