Renting a car cost vs. Ride-sharing around

over an hour wait for a bus
That has to be an anomaly. ONCE I waited about 45 minutes for a bus after a DVC moonlight magic event, but that was probably just a logistical mistake somewhere. I've been several times since July including Thanksgiving and NYE, and have never experienced any sort of bus issue like that.

I have read multiple posts on here all through out spring break of people complaining and they not able to call for more busses.

Rental prices are so unbelievably high right now that I think you are better off using Uber/Lyft for your upcoming trip.
If you are a Costco member, they currently have a buy $100 ubereats gift card (works on regular Uber too) for $80. Also, If you have a chase reserve card it comes with Lyft pink that gives you 15% off each ride.

We go through this debate on almost every trip. We have done both the rental & Uber/Lyft route. During Normal times when you can get a rental all in for $250, I would say it’s worth the cost but from your numbers it looks to be a minimum of $500. Most rides around property are going to be between $15-$20 with tip. Take your best car rental price and see how many rides it would take to get to that number.

This has been SUPER helpful. Im thinking to skip renting the car & try & see how how Disney transport goes, supplementing with uber/lyft if we feel we need to. The points made above about driving in an unfamiliar area & dealing with Disney traffic i KNOW would stress my husband out more than being a passenger!
Also, if the rental prices were cheaper Id be more excited about it. The prices i saw didnt make me feel like I was getting any kind of deal!

Yea I just did Costco for $430 for 9 days. we normally book a ride company to go to and from that costs about 160 so ends up being an extra $270. No cancel fee so when it gets closer I can always change it if I find a cheaper price

In case no one has mentioned, there is a hefty resort parking fee per night when you have a car at Universal's Royal Pacific. If you rent a car, don't forget to take that into account.

Yep - $28 per night, plus if you drive to the parks from there (why would you? It's a 7-minute walk or a quick water taxi), you'll pay another $25 for parking at the parks, too.

No, you don't pay for parking at the theme parks if you are staying onsite.

So has anybody signed up for Lyft pink? I am wondering if it would come out cheaper than renting a car for a 10 night trip. I just checked and the cheapest rental I can find was around $900.

I used taxis occasionally during our trip. I much prefer them to ridesharing. Since you're staying at the Poly, you'll be able to ask someone at the valet desk in front of the resort to order one for you and they show up in just a few minutes. Have a couple of dollars cash to tip the valet for making the call.
