Renting a Camcorder at WDW

Does anyone know if you can rent a camcorder at any of the parks at WDW? I was going to borrow my sister's, but it's not working right now and she's not sure if it will be fixed before I leave.

I don't think they have done that for many years. They used to rent old VHS ones, but I don't think they have offered rentals since the 90's.

If anyone knows any better, speak up - I'd be very curious to know.

My mom has used these on a few trips (other than Disney) and loved them. I have taken my kiddos to WDW 5 times and have never done video -- couldn't handle lugging the vidoe camera (ours is bgger and older) plus I really love still photos so I take tons of thsoe of the kids...but once I heard of the disposable ones, I decided to give that atry on our next trip -- maybe for character meals, or if the kids get called up to participate in anything (liek the Lion King show...)

Maybe others can tell if they've been somewhat satisfied with the disposables...I wouldn't expect them to be great, but might be just good enough for what is needed!

I don't know how much the disposables cost, but you get a decent Mini-DV camcorder for less than $300 now.

I saw an old article from when they first started offering this and it said it was another $12.99(don't know if this is still the case) to get the video put on a dvd, which is the only option if you want to keep it.
To me, $43 seems like a high price to pay for 20 minutes of mediocre quality(I'm just guessing here) video. I know not everyone is in the market for a video camera, but it's at least worth considering since you can buy a Canon Mini-DV camcorder for $225.

Try a Rentacenter or Rentway type place. We did that in the early 90's before we got a video camera of our own and it cost us like $20 for a week. You don't have to actually "rent to own" - you're free to return it whenever you want (they actually make more money that way) We used those places all the time to rent furniture for a concert festival - I'd have to go over and cut a deal to furnish all the trailers backstage. They'd bring it all out and pick it up a week later. From talking to them I found out people rent short term ALL the time.

I know when Disney DID rent them out, it was still so much cheaper to do it this way.

Was going to suggest this. I talked to someone at CVS and she said people *LOVE* them! They sell out of them *VERY* quickly when they get shipments in. I guess the quality is fairly decent. You have to get it developed at CVS and they turn it into a dvd for you. So, I got one. Wondering if I should get one more. Only thing I noticed which is obvious...there is no zoom. I'm just used to a camera with zoom. But I'm anxious to try it out. I don't really want to lug my own camcorder around along with my digi cam--as they're both 5yrs old and older/bigger models vs the tiny ones nowadays. I prefer pictures vs. video but wanted to have a camcorder on hand. It's so small too which is an obvious plus.
