Hi everyone. I'm looking to possibly rent a boat on Seven Seas Lagoon from the Polynesian on this next trip. I have never done this before, and I have been looking for something fun, relaxing, and new to do on this trip.

There will just be 2 of us doing this, and we are pretty tall with our height in our legs.

- Does anyone recommend doing this as a fun new activity?
- Do you think it was worth the price?
- Which boat would you rent if you were tall and needed leg room?

We have rented sea raycers and a pontoon boat a couple of times. Sea raycers were fun and the pontoon boat was really nice for a small group of people. If it’s just two of you I’d go with a smaller boat. It’s nice to see the lagoon from a different perspective and worth the price in my opinion!

Do you need a boating license to rent the pontoons? If so, I assume they accept one from any state?

We’ve done the sea racers and they were lots of fun. There was an age requirement (15?) to drive it but that’s all. Not sure about the other boats though.

Ok dumb question. How hard is it to drive the sea raycers? Is it something my 15 year old can do and then dock it by herself? How hard is it to understand where you can and cannot go in the lake (which side of buoys you are supposed to stay on etc). Can a person do it ok without unintentionally breaking the rules? She would die if she did something wrong without realizing it. We are naive to boating (obviously)

We are also naive to boating and this was our first time. I just asked my teen and she said it was pretty easy. She is one to always follow the rules and they gave specific instructions on where they could go.
She and her younger sister rode together, and my DH and young son were in another one along with them too. She also just reminded me that she and her younger sister were allowed to both drive so the driving limit must be a little younger.

No you do not. Drivers of the little Sea Raycers have to be at least 12 years old. Drivers of the pontoons and Boston Whalers have to be at least 18.

Florida law says you must be 14 years of age to rent a personal watercraft and hold a Boating Safety Education ID card.

The Sea Raycers are considered boats, not Personal Watercraft and are under the 10 horsepower limit to require a Florida Boating Safety ID card. Disney has this set up very well, and it is a fun and easy activity for anyone 12 and up. Follow the rules that they clearly explain and you will have a great time. While kids 12-18 can drive, a parent or guardian's signature is required.

I like having my legroom also!

We are a family of 5 though and even if we don’t all go I like renting the pontoons, no legroom issues and I like to take pics and being able to stand up and move around even with all of us aboard is a big plus!
