We rented points for our vacation. It's time for us to do online check in. We will be at AKL for a week, then Boardwalk for a week.

I do not want to choose something that would be an upgrade in cost or points.
We have a lot of options to choose from: Corner room, sunset savanna view, near lobby, near elevator, upper floor, lower floor, pembe savannah view.

Any recommendations?

Part of your choices depend on which building you are booked in. At Jambo house all DVC rooms are on the 5th floor so some of those requests don't exist. It also depends on the view you booked. If you booked a standard view then you should not choose a savannah view. Other than that it should not matter. Those choices are really for cash rooms and many of them as I mentioned don't match what is available for DVC. The hotel should not upgrade you based on choices they simply won't give you unavailable choices.

We stayed at BWV in a pool/ garden view studio, I requested high and close to the elevator. We were on the fourth floor and had a view of the pool and The Swan and Dolphin. We were in 4058, just before the circle where the two bedroom units were. It was great , the walk was not too far after a day of walking the parks.

We have a standard view at both places , so I won't pick any of the view options.

At AKL we are at Kidani.

Thanks for your help.

At Kidani you can request a floor level. The lowest actual level of rooms is 2 and my understanding is that the lower you are the better the view of the animals but we have only had standard view rooms at Kidani. You could request a pool view if you choose but you may end up a lot further from the lobby if you do so. Kidani is a long resort with long hallways from the bus stop. If you will have a rental car and be driving it then it doesn't matter where you are becuase there are elevators close to all the rooms and you park on the first floor so you just have to park near your room (which we have never had trouble doing). You can request near the lobby if you would prefer not to walk to far or if you plan on using quick service at jambo much and plan on walking ask for a room near Jambo- you can head down the elevators there from the room and it cuts off you walk. It really depends on the kind of trip you are planning as well as what you want from your room.

At Kidani I would definitely request a room close to the lobby! It is so very long and if you get an end room it will be a hike!

I know there are standard rooms with partial views near the pool. I thought that partial savanna view was an option for standard views at Che ck in. But that was s one time ago. It would put you far from the lobby and transportation.

Yes, I chose Pembe Sanannah at online checkin for my standard view, and got one of those "partial views" in my standard view room.

As you said, it was a very long walk. (I think my room was XX52, which meant I walked by 26 rooms on each side of the hall, getting to the lobby)

What can you see with a "partial view"? Do you have to lean off the balcony and around a corner to see anything? LOL! I could go back and change it if it is worth it.
