Rental strollers?

They are not allowed in DTD. I know they offer a discount for multiple days, but don't know the details.

We debated about renting a stroller at Disneyland or bring our own... we decided on our own & here's why:
If you rent a stroller in Disneyland & want to go to DCA, you have to return before leaving the park, they'll issue something to pick one up at DCA. You can't take them to Downtown Disney & there is a pretty long line for them first thing in the morning.
We found it much easier to take our own, & skip the hassle. It also makes it much easier to find your stroller after you go on rides, etc.
Hope that helps!!
PS: our friend flies & says it's not too tough to check the stroller & pick up with luggage.

thank you both, i keep going back and forth on the idea, but the problem is i cant seem to find a good light weight stroller here, and one that goes past 37 pounds lol, selection sucks. I was thinking about waiting to buy one when we get there but i don't know.
I didn't know that you couldn't take it to both parks
thanks

Actually you CAN take the strollers back and forth between parks. We did it this last trip (returned yesterday), as well as last March. They must have changed the rules. :) We always get one there because we have the Disney Visa (and it's free!). To help distinguish our rental from the sea of other rentals...we just bring a brightly colored ribbon and tie it to the handle.

There was a discussion about this just last week... rental vs. bring your own... can't find it just offhand...

Our solution was to bring a cheapie umbrella stroller, because it's light and portable, to use just between the hotel and parks (handy for those long terminals at the airport, too--gate check it). If you have a Disney Visa card you get 2 free rental strollers a day. You can hit the parks, maybe use your cheapie until the rental line dies down a bit, then rent your stroller and leave your cheapie checked at the stroller counter. The rentals are joggers, bigger kids can fit them (DD was nearly 6 when she used one), comfy, sturdy and very steerable. They have good-sized storage bins beneath, and a sun canopy with a plastic sleeve on the top: they issue you a nametag with your last name on it and put it in the sleeve to identify your stroller. Like the PP, we also tied a bandana to ours to make it quickly identifiable in the crowd of strollers outside rides.

We tried to use our umbrella stroller the first day and deeply regretted it. It was hard to push and maneuver. Rentals are much easier.

You can use the rentals in both parks and in the Esplanade between, but you can't take them past the security tables, so not into DTD.

One other thing: if you take a midday break back at the hotel, many people drop off their strollers right next to the security tables. There's always a large bunch of them there by the later afternoon. So save your nametag out of your rental stroller sleeve, and when you come back after your afternoon break, just commandeer one of the abandoned strollers and put your nametag in it. No going back to the rental place to show your receipt to get a new one.

Definitely bring one. An umbrella stroller is like $10 and it holds a lot more than you think. DD is 36 lbs and still rides in an umbrella stroller sometimes. Then you can use it on the walk back to the hotel and in DTD.

Yes, as mentioned, NOW you can take them between the parks. Back in '05, according to my rental ticket, you could NOT take them between parks, and had to bring your ticket to the other park to get your other ticket. But now it's different.

The length-of-stay deal is NOT a money-saving thing, but a time-saving option. You pay up front, and they give you the number of stroller tickets you'll need. Each day, instead of waiting in that long line, you just go right up to the person doling out the strollers, almost like you're going in the exit of the line, hand over that day's ticket and receipt, and boom, you're given a stroller. If you save your name-tag from day to day, that's even less time it'll take...the stroller lady was amazed that I'd kept mine from day to day, and that I smiled, was not in a hurry, and said kind things to her...guess it was a bad morning, only a few minutes after opening!

I'm personally, now, a fan of bringing my own...I don't have a Disney Visa and have absolutely no plans to apply for one...we leave nothing in the stroller and we turn ours around when we park it so the handles are awkward for a sneak thief to snatch it (we haven't had the experience of CMs moving things around as we always park it in an extremely proper place AND we go at quieter times), and we try to not worry about it. It's always the walk back to the hotel that's the killer...that and trying to get DS to hurry to the parks (he'll try to run once IN the parks, but wants to dawdle on the way there) in the morning...so those are the biggest Must Have Stroller times for us, and you just don't get that if you only rent a stroller.
