I don't know if this is the right spot or not, but hoping someone can answer :)
We are playing with the idea of renting DVC points. Since we are a family of 5 we seem to be fairly limited on where we can stay, so my question is (and I know this is generalized) but can the studios or 1 bedrooms fit a family of 5? It would be my DH, Me and 3 DDs (9,5,3 at time of stay?) Or do we have to book a 2 bedroom?

A 1BR at BLT has a King, queen pull-out and a twin pull-out and will sleep 5 comfortably. I know this for a fact, having just stayed in one. Some of the more recent renovations at other resorts are rumored to have added a pull-out twin, but I can't remember which ones they are.:earsboy:

AKV also has some units that sleep five, as do the renovated OKW rooms with the sleeper chair. BLT and AKV's 5-person 1BRs have a second bath. OKW's do not.

Personally, I much prefer a 2BR. I like having the living room available for night owls/morning people.

AKV is the same for 1 bedroom and both have 2 full baths!!!

Animal Kingdom Villas in Kidani would be perfect for you. The Studios have 1 queen/ king bed (don't remember which), 1 queen foldout couch (for 2 more) and a single pull out sleeper chair. The 1 BR have a king in the master bedroom and 1 queen pull out couch and the single sleeper pull out chair as well. The 1 BRs in Kidani have 2 bathrooms as well, which is a HUGE plus when you have a larger family size!

Go for a 1BR at OKW. Plenty of room for 5 and lowest point cost:hippie:.

Thank you all for the answers!! Looks like I need to start researching the resorts!!

Studios only sleep four. And the BLT studio, while it will sleep four, it is very small and more suitable for two.

BLT, AKV (non-Value villas) and OKW all have beds for five people in the one bedroom. One king, one queen sleeper sofa and one twin sized sleeper chair.

AKV also has some units that sleep five, as do the renovated OKW rooms with the sleeper chair. BLT and AKV's 5-person 1BRs have a second bath. OKW's do not.

OKW villas are huge and if you are not getting a 2 bedroom you will appreciate the extra space. OKW also has a full sized washer and dryer as opposed to the apartment style that the others do.If you go with a 2 bedroom at OKW I would also ask for a dedicated 2 bedroom. That way you have 2 entrances to the master bath. One through the master and one through the laundry room. I also like that the kitchens there are more open. It makes them seem bigger and I am a bit claustraphobic.

Studios at AKV have a queen bed and a full-size sleeper sofa. They sleep 4 plus a child under 3 years of age.

The non-Value 1BRs at AKV have a king bed in the master bedroom and a queen-size sleeper sofa and twin-size sleeper chair in the living area. They officially sleep 5. The Value 1BRs at AKV do not have the sleeper chair so they sleep 4.

Okay - sorry for all the questions, but want to make sure I am understanding this correctly. A 2 bedroom at AKV (value) would be 30 points per night? So we would need to rent 150 points for a Sun-Thurs in early June 2012?

What makes a "value" ? Is it that is doesn't have a savanna view? Is there a point difference between Jambo House and Kidani?

Again, I am sorry for all of the questions!! Thanks for all the help :)

The value rooms are smaller than the other rooms, I believe about 3 feet shorter than the others. The views for a value room can be parking lot, pool, or savannah. They don't take requests any longer so you have to take what you will get. I believe, however, that the parking lot views are the smallest percentage.

There are not many value rooms so if you want one of those, you will really have to try to find an AKV owner who can book that reservation 11 months in advance. And, the value rooms are only at Jambo House.

LisaS explained it well: the value villa is too small for your family. It only sleeps 4. If you want to save cost, I'd do a standard view 1 br at Kidani. They are big enough for my family of 5 (with 2 bathrooms!), and there are lots of viewing spots around the building.
