what do you-all think? been reading lots of threads about WDW being more crowded than normal...was planning on bussing it the whole time,we've done it both ways before......we'll have a whole week, and we're not usually too rushed....but just thinking, maybe for a couple of dining res. it might be easier...then again, the buses are free.......opinions? all are appreciated- we head down next week...... we don;t need to go off property....

If your not in a rush.... save your money and enjoy the time...... we don't rent because we are never in a rush, but for others it can be a different situation. Hope this helps. :thumbsup2

Why not try the bussing route first? If it doesn't work out you can always rent. I think you will be ok with the busses, if you plan ahead.

The only problem with that is that if you change your mind the only really close car rental is the onsite enterprise agency and they are usually more than the deals you get at the airport.

Op,
We rented the first year we were there and have never gone back. LOL. At that time we had kids in strollers and IMO it was well worth the price to not have to deal with buses and strollers. It is simply a big headache. especially since there are usually 99 other families trying to squeeze on the bus with their strollers.

Now, we are park hoppers so there is nothing like having a car when you want to "hop" to another park (except of course MK-Epcot) where youcan use the monorail.

Also at park closing, I hate loathe and despise the mob scene at the bus terminals and some times the hour extra time to get back to my resort.
I rarely rush either but at the end of the day it's nice when the kids and I can simply get in our car and not have to stop at 3 other resorts before our stop.

Lastly, if you want to go from "resort to resort" with disney busses it can take up to 2 hours. they tell you to allow 3 for adrs. :headache: sorry that is crazy and let's not even talk trying to get to DTD. parking for onsite quest is free and it takes 20 mins tops to get to any resort.

In general my advice is if you aren't going off property more than twice don't waste money on a rental.

Use DME. The resort transport buses only take a long time in a couple instances. Going to DTD. And one which can be avoided don't follow the crowd out of the park, after a parade or F!. It's a dumb mistake people make all the time and then they complain about the buses. For your whole trip avoid going with the crowd and you won't have horrible experiences. Wether it is walking down mainstreet, eating lunch at noon or getting on the bus when another 8K guests are leaving. Use common sense and you will have a much more relaxed and fun experience.

As far as bus vs. car.

Leave resort parking sooner in your hot car.
Take kids out of strollers to get on bus or parking lot tram.
Get on a bus that is closer than where your car is parked at the parks.
The buses won't get lost trying to find resorts or parks.
Car and Buses drive the same speeds on the roads.

It all boils down to how much you think your time is worth to be doing things you would rather be doing than waiting for and riding on buses or boats. In the course of a week you will probably spend at least 15 to 20 more hours waiting for and using Disney transportation, than having your own transportation.
Going resort to resort for your ADRs can be especially time consuming using Disney transportation, allow a min 60-90 minutes, and be aware of park closing hours for planning how to get where you are going and how you are getting back.
Taxis are sometimes a good option if pressed for time.

Check the prices for the size car you would need, and make your decision based on how much your time is worth.

You can rent on site from Alamo/National at the Dolphin hotel or CCC, plus most of the DTD hotels also have rental companies. It may cost more to rent on site than at the airport, so renting for several days from an on site location could cost as much as a weekly rental from the airport.

Good Luck whatever you decide and have a good time.

No way can you get lost driving around the world. :lmao: It's like the Indy 500 you keep going around in a big circle making lefts. LOL. It is ridiculously well marked.
