This is our first time renting a home- wondering what we need to bring with us and what will already be there for us to use-

Will there be?
dishcloths
dishtowels
bath towels
beach towels
face cloths
hair dryer
all purpose cleaner for cleaning up after ourselves

I am assuming that we will need to pick up the following
Kleenex
toilet paper
laundry soap
all purpose cleaner
dishwasher soap

Anything else you can think of or know of- ?

Thanks, Jen

If you are renting a home or condo, your best bet for finding out what is there is to ask the owner or management company. If they have a guest book that shows email addresses for prior guests, email the most recent guest to find out. In my prior experiences with home rentals, we always brought our own beach towels and pillows.

You will need to bring laundry detergent, general cleaning stuff like dish detergent, clorax wipes, etc to maintain the place while you are there. Soap (hand and bath), toilet tissue, facial tissue, I bring my own hair dryer because I'm particular about those, and any toiletries that you need.

I also bring my own face clothes, but that's because I'm paranoid about the possibility of leaving make-up stains on someone else's property.

All homes are owned individually so the best way to know what is in the home is to ask these questions of the owner. They are the ones who know what they provide in their homes.

You need to ask the owner or management company. At one place I stayed, EVERYTHING was provided, even soaps, laundry detergent, condiments, coffee, and saran wrap. Even toothpaste! (Obviously, the owners were either close by, or actually lived there periodically.) At another place, there was only the very minimum of cookware, dishes, towels and toilet paper. Only a one-use pack of dishwashing detergent, and no laundry detergent, napkins, paper towels or other cleaning stuff. There were plenty of towels, but we ran out of toilet paper. No condiments, not even salt & pepper. No coffee filters. (Not even a big cookie sheet for the frozen pizza I cooked.)

Thankfully, the local grocery stores sell things like that in tiny 1 week quantities, but at a premium price. Still, I didn't have to waste a HUGE box of Tide...I got a teeny box that did 4 loads, all I needed.

So, bottom line: call ahead and find out what's provided.

Many of the above mentioned items legally are not allowed in the homes unless they are not opened. Make sure you ask the owners and just do not count on the items listed.

I rented two homes through orlandovillas and both homes were supplied with everything. It was great we didn't have to buy anthing.

We rented a house in Davenport, and there was almost everything...even bottled water in the fridge. However, there was only 1 roll of TP per bathroom. I ended up buying dishwasher detergent, laundry detergent (brought a couple dryer sheets from home), and more TP. There was dishwashing liquid, teabags, coffee filters, salt and pepper, sugar and sweetener packets, and a welcome basket with a couple of sample sized crackers, cereal boxes, coffee packets, etc. All linens provided for...towels, floor mats, sheets, blankets, pillows, etc. All dishes and implements provided.

I agree with everyone...call the management co. and find out what's provided.
