Rental Cars in Cozumel

Can anyone tell me if there's an Alamo or an Avis where DCL docks at Cozumel? I'm thinking about renting a car in Cozumel and driving around the island. Thanks.

Renting a car in Mexico can be risky business. Please be aware that Mexican laws are different than US or Canadian laws. If you are involved in an accident, you are deemed GUILTY until proven innocent and investigations can be shoddy at best.
Also, insurance can be tricky - you are responsible for any damage to the car regardless if it is your fault or not (ie. it is parked on the street). If there is any delay in payment from insurance (if you use your own for example) you will be detained, likely in a Mexican jail.

I will attempt to answer your question instead of trying to scare you like the PP.

This link shows rental car info for Cozumel. If memory serves me DCL docks at Punta Langosta pier which is adjacent to the large mall. I think renting a car in Cozumel is a very viable option.

The previous poster gave you info about cars. I don't have anymore info, but I think that is a good idea. We got a driver for the day. It appears to be very easy to get around Cozumel.

Thanks for all your input. I will be careful - I've read all the reviews about scams at petrol stations, and to take photos of all the dings and marks on the vehicle when we pick them up, etc, and we will take up the appropriate insurance when renting the vehicle. We've travelled a lot and driven rental cars all over the world, and sometimes we've had issues - most times not. Its part of the experience I guess.
