Rental cars for February?

I started looking for rental cars for our trip down in February (2/20-3/7) and so far everything mid-size and up is showing for $600+

I'm having a hard time accepting that we'll have to pay half of our plane ticket costs on a rental car! We have two adults and three children in car seats/boosters so we need at least a full-size if not a minivan.

When will (if they will) the rates start to come down for February?

Thrifty has a full size for your dates for $517. Book it as a backup in case prices don't come down, and then check periodically to see if there's anything cheaper.

I am glad made a booking a few months ago, I got a full size, Thrifty, Feb 20 to March 9 for $410.00 everything incl. I have also been rechecking and I am shocked at the rental car prices now. I do expect many to drop once discount codes for 2007 are out.

Yeah, I also got in early with Thrifty. Back in July we got a mid-size for our end of February trip for $166 including everything - now they're outrageous. They'll be going back down the closer we get to February.
