Rental Cars at DVC Properties

We were wondering whether any of the DVC properties can arrange for rental cars? In specific we're wondering about Saratoga Springs and Old Key West. If anyone has an experience with this (and a ball park idea as to pricing per day) we'd appreciate hearing from you.

I know there is an Alamo onsite somewhere. Maybe you take the shuttles to it?

Alamo & National are on site at the Car Care center near the Magic Kingdom. You can check their respective websites for pricing and reservations. They have a shuttle van for pickup and drop off at the resorts.

There is also a National/Alamo center located at the Dolphin - the rental office is just off the main lobby of the resort. We've used that location a number of times - usually for a one-day rental to visit family a few hours away - and it is easy to get to/from when staying at any WDW resort.

Be sure to price both companies. Even though they are operated by the same parent company, and use the same fleet of cars, Alamo is usually, but not always, cheaper. Occasionally National has the better price.

Do they kill you if you just try to resnt for a few days (rather than by the week)?

It is pretty standard for daily rates to be higher then weekly rates. For December, unless prices come down, so far we are using Magical Express to/from the airport and OKW and then getting a car onsite, for the length of the trip, and returning it one day before we depart.

That way we still have the convenience of a car, but save one day on the rental. If prices drop, I'll probably get it at the airport.

I have used the car care center, very easy. Free shuttle, look at Costco to see if they have any deals online. Have a great time. JW

Alamo will send a shuttle to and from your resort and transport you to/from the Car Care Center. We find it much more convenient to rent at the Buena Vista Palace (a quick walk from the DD bus station) or the Dolphin. Avis is also at the Hilton, which is also an easy walk from the DD buses. Budget is at the Doubletree Guest Suites (a longer, but still very easy walk from DD buses) and Dollar is at the Grosvenor (or whatever the name of that hotel is now). If you are a Costco member, we always find the best rates there. It's about $40/day for a few days rental, but weekly rates are often better.
