Looking at a trip to states in summer... Is it possible to rent a car in one state and drive to another in it and leave it in another state? Thinking of doing a road trip! Hope that makes sense!

Yes but check how much the one way rental is. This isn't included on the rental quote (when I have looked) but us in the small print that one will apply :)

If you use one of the larger company's such as dollar or Alamo then you will be able to drive through states but as the PP mentioned there will be higher costs for dropping off somewhere else. These can be significantly higher than expected so look closely before committing to a booking

With alamo there is no one way fee for rentals within california, florida and new york
Renting at mco and dropping the car off in tampa : no fee
Renting in san fransisco and droping off in los angeles : no fee

But if you rent in nyc and drop the car off in florida you'll pay $300
It's only payble locally and will be added on top of your total rental cost

Last year I looked at collecting in Orlando and dropping in New Hampshire. I can't remember which company I priced with but I was quoted $500 one way fees ontop of the rental costs. We decided to fly:rotfl:
