Rental car upgrades to minivan?

I know upgrade deals seem to usually stop at reservations for intermediate size cars, but I thought that occasionally it goes higher.

If you have a two-class upgrade, what would you reserve to get upgraded to a minivan? What's one class away from the minivan?

Thanks.

If you really need a minivan I would book one. My understanding is that the rental companies don't have a lot of minivans available. The last time I was in Florida (it was last minute - we made the plans about 6 weeks before we left) I couldn't get a minivan and this is what they told me. We ended renting two economy cars as there were 7 of us.

Rarely, if ever, can you upgrade to a mini van with an upgrade coupon.
The coupon will state the low and high end of the upgrade.
IE: compact to fullsize/standard (depending on the company) is a two jump.

It's ok, we do have a minivan reserved. I was just curious about the levels of vehicles--wondering what is considered 1 or 2 classes below a minivan.

we usually rent from National with an emerald card and you pay for a mid-size, but sometimes there are mini vans and SUVs available. If you HAVE to have a mini van, I would rent one, but if you don't need on and would be happy with a mid-size if needed, I would go for it!
