Rental Car Suggestions?

I want to use the Magical Express service, but my husband wants to rent a car. It seems like a waste of money. Is there a rental car company onsite anywhere, where he can rent a car for the day if he wants? To be honest, I am not sure what he would need it for, but he likes having a car at his disposal.

AND if we end up renting for the whole period, which companies do you recommend? Are they all located in the airport?

YES, WDW has the Car Care Center. They are affliated with National and Alamo (only). You can rent a car from them.

Almost all the major rental lots have cars at the airport (hertz/national/alamo/budget), I'd recommend searching travelocity or expedia for the lowest rate. We've rented from hertz, budget, and alamo in the past.

As someone else noted, it's easy to get a car for a day at the park by going through alamo or national (I've found that alamo is cheaper). You can arrange for a free shuttle from your hotel to the car care center (or back).

I will tell you though, if you aren't planning on leaving Disney (going to say Seaworld or Universal or other places outside of Disney), then don't bother renting a car. You definately DON'T want to drive to the theme parks, especially magic kingdom, since getting from the parking lot to the park is a nightmare. Your best bet is always to use the Disney bus service (IMHO).
