Rental car, staying offsite and Sunpass

Speaking from experience, the "screen protector" solution works well, and makes the SunPass Mini easy to move from one car to another. It will not allow it to work on a plastic windshield though. Although the information on the SunPass site that says it uses the windshield as an antenna is incorrect, the design does require a glass dielectric for impedance matching. The thin screen protector between the sticker and the windshield does not prevent this. Just peel off the backing and stick the SunPass onto the smooth side of the protector, then attach the sticky side of the protector to the windshield as directed. Squeeze out the bubbles as you would when applying to a cell phone. You can then peel it off and re-apply on another vehicle when you wish. When you sign up for your SunPass account, don't forget to ask about the promotion which credits your account $4.99 for the cost of the SunPass Mini transponder.
And don't forget to change/add the license plate that the transponder is licensed for. From my understanding, there are times that transponder tolling is not available (outages/maintenance/toll by plate roadways) and your plate will be used to match up to your account. If your plate isn't registered, you will get a fine instead of a toll.

I have tried to order the transponder but it asks me for a license plate number. Since I will have a rental car, I don't know the license plate. How do you get around this.
Put in your own vehicles license plate. When you get to the airport and know the plate of your rental, add as a rental for the defined period you will have using the SunPass app. I have done this for a few rentals without problem.

Okay so please can I get some clarity.

Its been 2 years since I travelled to my happy place and last time there we didn't have a transponder and one wasn't pushed by the car rental company. We are fully aware of the attendant less booths where you have to have exact change (got caught out one year at Celebration and thought police would drop from the sky since we didn't have the 50 cents needed )

So if I choose to, can I still pay at booths or have the right change and not bother with a sunpass or should I bite the bullet and get something like everyone is talking about in this thread.

We are going for 11 nights, will travel to Bradenton for the beach and maybe to Tampa but that's about it.

Thanks in planning!

We just returned from there earlier this week and at least from MCO to Disney there were attended cash booths at each toll location.
