Rental Car return to The Dolphin

We will be renting a car at the airport on our upcoming trip to WDW. We are planning to return this car to the Dolphin, where we will be staying our first night.

Apparently the rental office at The Dolphin closes at 4PM. We will not be arriving until after that time.

Does anybody know if there is a key return box where we can just drop them off after hours???

You drop the car off with the Dolphin Valet. You tip them and they will take the car away. They will take your mileage and give you a drop off receipt. You will not get a normal national receipt, but you can check in online and request an internet receipt when you next have access to a computer.
I usually tip a dollar or two.

Where are you staying for the rest of your trip? You will be paying for the entire day/night anyway, I would just plan on dropping it off in the morning after dropping your luggage and the rest of your party at your new hotel. Disney will not be responsible for moving your luggage from a non WDW hotel to a WDW hotel.
 
I would take some pictures of the rental to show there was no damage. Just to protect yourself. It could get damaged by the valet and you are responsible.

A picture won't hurt but it may not help. The date stamp can be changed. That said posters have returned the car to the Dolphin valet and I haven't read any posts with issues.

The poster is staying at the Dolphin and would have to pay for parking. I've read S/D will generally move luggage to a WDW resort if you ask nicely (tip). That said I'd keep the car overnight and move my own luggage but at least some people may not think having a car the next morning is worth paying for parking.

There is no guarantee that the S/D would move the luggage, which if they didn't get a nice bellman they would then need to pay for a taxi to their WDW hotel, also consider that tipping bell services to move a family's worth of luggage is going to be the same as just paying for the overnight self parking at the S/D.

Another benefit to just keeping the car is the family can go offsite prices for a big breakfast before having to pay for rip off WDW prices for a hot breakfast. :idea:

We are staying at BWV after the one night at the Dolphin. We were planning on walking our stuff over to Boardwalk first thing in the morning. We will only have "carry-on" baggage with us since our Owners Locker will be delivered straight to BWV.

We wanted to return the car as soon as we got to the Dolphin because we didn't want to waste any time doing it the next morning.
