We are renting a vehicle for our upcoming trip and we are picking it up at MCO. I always check the vehicle for damage and to make sure that the gas tank reads "F" before we pull away.

I have read many posts on other sites about having to produce a gas receipt when you drop the vehicle back off, and it needs to show a fill-up within a 10 mile radius of the airport. In all my years of renting vehicles, I've never had to anyone ask for a receipt. I knew sometimes they "could" ask for it, but I've never had too.

I always make sure that the night before we leave to head back to the airport, we fill up the vehicle (usually at the HESS station in DTD)... (and I actually top off the tank, not just where ever it stops) and once we fill it up, we don't drive it anymore until the next morning when we drive back to the airport.

By the time we drive to the airport from DTD, the gage is still well on/over the FULL mark.

Has anyone rented a car at MCO lately that you've had to show your receipt or been given a hassle that the car was not returned full?

I really hate to have to fill it up on the way to the airport. We take the toll roads in and I'm not hip about having to get on and off the toll-road just to top off the tank. But if I need to, I guess I have to.

I know this has to do with people who don't bother to even fill up the tank, but to actually show a receipt within a 10 mile radius, seems a little drastic. Then again, I'm sure the rental agencies are out to make as much extra $$$ as they can too..... and this is the way that they can do that.

We use National and have never had to show a receipt. We take 417 back to the airport and when we exit onto boggy creek road, we head south to a shell station at 530 and 531. Gas is a good price and well within the 10 miles.

I filled up the gas tank @ DTD Hess station

and drove directly to MCO and dropped off rental ... no problem (Alamo)

Rented more than 150 cars in the past 2 years and have never had to produce a gas receipt.

Last year I had to show a receipt don't remember what company it was. I was told these were new rules.

So the smart thing to do sounds like: ask at the rental counter or checkout kiosk, or check the company's website, or call - to learn the policy before taking possession of the vehicle.

They gave me the new printed rules at the counter....

I have never seen them ask for a receipt at MCO. My family always rents a car and we've rented from most agencies.

I was only asked to show a receipt one time while I was traveling for work and when I took the car they told me 3 times I needed one when I returned. There was only a handful of gas stations around and none were anywhere near the airport. I think that's why they required it.

There were plenty of gas stations along the way...

Well LOL trust me they do showed me the rules printed out about it...

I actually was informed of this rule once from AVIS. I didn't have the rental on my AWD# since I got a better deal through an olta and I was floored by this requirement.

Since I have only used my emerald club and have never had any problem.

Where is a good place on BeachLine #528 East Bound to fill up before returning to MCO with the rental car.

I see there is a 7-11 Gas Station just off of Exit 8 but that is very close to the Airport, Gas might be really high there?

Anyone else know a good place within 10 miles of the airport for a quick fill up?

This will be on a Saturday afternoon around 2pm.

Price was pretty good when I stopped there

I've never had to produce a receipt for any rental agency. All they've done is turn the key and check the gauge. That said, when I do rent a car I fill up at a Shell station about 3 miles south of OIA on Boggy Creek.

Do you cut across on Epcot Center Drive to World Center Drive and pick up Central Florida Greenway #417 then to Boggy Creek. If so what side of the road is the Shell Station on?
