Can anyone tell me if I can return a rental car at a DVC resort. I'd like to use a car for the first few days and take ME back to the airport.
Has anyone done this? Any specific car company? Thanks for the info.

I don't believe any of the DVC resorts have car returns. You can return Alamo or National at the Dolphin (or is it Swan??) and the Car Care Center. And I know there's a Dollar Car Rental at the Regal Sun (formerly the Grosvenor) in Downtown Disney.

We normally rent a car for a day or two and take ME back to the airport.

We rent the car from MCO airport, we used Alamo or National. There are two places to return cars on WDW Property. One is the car care center. They shuttle to where you want to go, either back to your resort or a park.

The other place to return cars is at the Dolphin. We usually return the car there in the am and then take the Boat to MGM or EPCOT. Or you can take a Disney bus to MK or AK.

I've heard of people renting cars while already at the hotel. Go to Guest Services and ask them. I believe Alamo or National will send the shuttle to pick you up at the resort and bring you to the Car Care Center.

Thanks lovemickey. Do you have to pre-arrange at car return at Dolphin at MCO at the time you rent, or just show up and leave it there?

Alamo drop off is at the HESS gas station, which is right at the toll gate going into the Kingdom. they have buses to take you back to your resort... just did it, it was seemless ( Alamo only though )

You should arrange this at the time you make your reservation, not when you pick up your car.

You might look at M.E. to and from WDW, and get a car once you are there. You save the hassle of traffic, luggage waiting and handling, and tolls. Also you save 9.8% airport fee on the rental.

We are renting from the Avis at the Hilton near DD for a few days of our July trip. I called, and they say they will pick us up the morning of the rental, and drop us back off after we turn the vehicle in. We are staying at SSR, which is close by.

We've used this Avis often. The do indeed have a courtesy pick-up/drop-off service.

great info, thanks everyone, it gives us more options than we knew of.

We use thew Dollar all the time seems to be cheapest and very easy to get to.

We take the bus to DTD and get off at the marketplace, walk across the street and your right there.

But yes if you do book it do it as a one way from MCO to what ever location you choose or they will chearge you up the you know what if you just try to drop it off.

Are the rental rates more per day if you rent/return on Disney property as opposed to the airport?

We enjoy having a car when we do not drive but the whole "gas-it-up" before you return it can be a hassle. Some of the gas stations near the airport gauge their pirces.

Also, the not having to deal with luggage aspect of ME is very appealing as long as you are planned ahead and have what you need for the day.

thanks - this is great info.

I looked on-line at Alamo's pricing and the rates looked the same at MCO/Car Care Center/Dolphin.

I'm so excited about this. If we rented at the airport we would have to get a much larger car to accomodate the luggage. Now, we can get a small car for a better rate and not have to deal with the luggage. :cool1:

I have found that Dollar is Cheaper at WDW then the Airport or the same, most others are a bit Higher at WDW for some reason.

The other nice thing is the Hess station is right there for a fill-up before we drop it off.Plus a better deal for a smaller car as well

I agree with the price and locations of the Airport gas stations just stinks. This is another reason I do the DTD location it's just much easier all the way around.
