Rental car or bus back to hotel from Epcot after Illuminations?

I know that it's very crowded trying to get out of the parking lot right after Illuminations, and at those times we're so glad we take the bus. However, what if we sit for 1/2 hour or so, then leave. Is the parking lot still crowded with people trying to leave, or is it OK? DH just doesn't want to fight the crowds, and we don't know if we should still take the bus, or will get out OK with the car?

I vote for the rental car.I don't like waiting in lines for the buses!!If you have your car you are more in control of your time & transportation!!
