rental car help

I have 2 car ressies with Dollar(119 week for compact). Our flight is supposed to arrive at 10 pm. I made one ressie with a pickup time of 10pm, and one for pickup the next morning(we would stay at an airport hotel).

My concerns are because of a couple of things I read on these boards: 1) rental agencies only hold your car til midnight(and what if our flight is delayed?) 2) Dollar may run out of the compact that I have reserved by 10 pm and then pressure me into an upgrade.


Anyone have any thoughts on this?

I am not sure that the rental agencies only hold your car until midnight. I would call Dollar and ask. Make sure you mention you are picking up at MCO since I'm pretty sure Dollar is open 24 hours there. A rental company may only hold a reservation to midnight in an airport that the rental desk isn't open 24 hours (or at least very late).

Besides, the agencies are pretty good about late flights. Make sure your flight is listed on your reservation. Some agencies say the keep an eye on late arrivals, etc. If the rental companies canceled a reservation after midnight they would lose a lot of business on bad weather days when flights run very late.

If Dollar runs out of compact cars before your arrival they will give you a free upgrade. They may not tell you right away and try to pressure you into paying for an upgrade. Tell them "no thanks" and they will then give you the upgrade for free if no com[acts are available. Actually, they will probably try to sell you an upgrade no matter when you arrive or how many cars they have left. just be firm.
