Rental Car Help

I have a few questions about rental cars if anyone can help me! I realize that you need a credit card to rent a car. We plan on paying cash for the rental, but I want to know if they still put a hold on your credit card regaurdless if you pay cash or not? I have plans to use my card in the world, but i need to budget accordingly if the rental car company is going to have the hold for the car on it. Thanks!

Depends on the rental car company... I suggest you call and ask your company.

As a general rule, they put the estimated cost of the rental on hold and some places add a "bump up"

It does depend on the rental company. Call the company direct and ask how much of a hold will be put on the card, or if you can get a "car company preloaded card" (some companies do this) that you can use.
