Rental Car from US hotels

We may need to rent a car to get from USO to Tampa in June. I see Avis has a pick up location at several of the hotels, including HRH which is where we may be staying. I would need to pick up the car before 6:00 (they close at 6:00) but we may not want to leave until later.

Would I pick up the car and then park (and pay) at the hotel until we are ready to leave?

Is picking up a rental car at a hotel a fairly easy process?

I have picked up a rental car at Avis at Cabana Bay. I had booked it ahead of time through Costco. It was a fairly easy process. They brought it around to the front for me, I assume you would have to pay to park if not leaving right away but you can ask if there are any alternatives. There is a temporary lot which may have hourly rates. I don't usually get my cars at Uni resorts because they are more expensive than surrounding hotels. I usually get them at the Doubletree or Holiday Inn, which requires walking from city walk to those hotels. It takes more time so you may not want to do that, I am usually getting a car for a week or 2 after my Uni stay so I don't mind walking over to get better rates.
