rental car for less than 1 wk

We are going down for 4 days on December & I want to rent a car. The problem is I'm getting killed with the rates. I'm paying as much or more for 4 days as other people are paying for a week. Is there anything I can do about this or is it just the way it is?

The pricing for less than a week rental appears to be horrendous, I thought I would use National for a 2-day work trip in CA, and their price with DC discount is $102, $59/day. Are you going on a weekend so you can use
coupons? Are you a member of DC? The National Website says "3rd day free" but you have to rent for 5 days. Not as much fun, but Alamo has 25% off Internet bookings, and if you join their Quicksilver Club, you get a free upgrade. Downside, Alamo is offsite at MCO.

I got a mid-size car for 4 days with the DC discount and one free day using an entertainment coupon for January for $118 including taxes and fees. I keep looking for something lower, but now the rates are so high I guess I'm just glad that I booked it when I did.

Check your dates to see if you can rent for 5 24 hour periods to get the weekly rate or use the one day free coupon from EB.
