Rental car for 1-2 days in December

Looking into most economic and efficient way to rent a car for 1-2 days, likely December 13. How soon should I be booking this? I'd like to have the least amount of hassle as well (not asking for much! ) We'd like to do some shopping mid-trip, kind of a day off. TIA for advice from all of you regular renters...put me on the right path, please!

On site Alamo rental at the Disney Car Car Center. Make a reservation now since rates generally go higher the closer you get, but keep checking back for any drops in price. You call Alamo the night before and they will pick you up at your resort. After your rental they'll drop you at the resort or a park.

Nothing easier than getting picked up at your resort!

In addition to Alamo, you can use National. I actually got a cheaper rate with National than with Alamo for December. I found a code on Mousesavers. Both Alamo and National use the Car Care Center, and both will pick you up (and drop you off) at your resort.

Just about all the major car rental companies have offices either at WDW itself or very nearby. They will also send a courtesy shuttle to get you and return you to your hotel. So don't limit your search to just Alamo/National - look at them all.
