Rental car drop-offs near DLR?

That could be - I found the 1570 S Harbor location via Google Maps, not avis.com.

I found that address on some site listing rental car agencies near DLR but I too did not see it as a choice to return the car on the Avis website.

FYI it was less then 30.00 including all taxes for a 24hour rental of an Icar.

The best I can find is $56 total for the one day in July. Again, I think/hope the price difference is the time of year. All of the hotels around DLR are more expensive for my dates, so I'm guessing the car rentals will be too. I've made reservation, and I'll keep checking dates with codes to see if I can do any better.

I believe Enterprise may be cheaper even with a $25 drop off fee, but I'm not sure where their drop off location is, and I would love to hear of first hand experiences with them before I try them.

Thanks for everyone's help!

Which companies have rental car drop-offs within walking distance to DLR?

Where are the drop-off locations?

In July, I want to rent a car from Orange County Airport, stop at the grocery store to pick up some food and water for our stay, check into the Desert Inn & Suites, and then return the car later that day. I don't need a car to return to the airport.

There will be three of us (me and my two DD's, 4 and 6) so I figured that the cost of a shuttle is about the same as a rental car plus I get to stop at a grocery store too.

Anyone with any experience doing this?

I know nothing of rental cars! But I know that supershuttle can be really reasonable from SNA, and then you could think about ordering food from albertsons.com or vons.com (for a delivery fee and they do have delivery windows where you need to be there unless your hotel says they can sign for it), rather than stopping in for it.

I only mention it in case you hadn't thought about it. :goodvibes

Thanks, Bumbershoot. I have thought of that, but I also want to take my DD's to the beach on our day of arrival. I figured we'd get out of the airport by 11am, get to the beach by 12, stay there until 3ish, get to our hotel and check in, get to the grocery store and return the car by 6 when it closes.

I think the SuperShuttle is about $30 for the three of us. Add a delivery fee for the groceries and it's probably almost $40. For about $15 more, I can get to the beach and not be stuck at the hotel waiting for our food. That is worth it to me.

Thanks for the idea, though!

Not sure if California conditions are the same for a national rental like they are in Hawaii but*****. I am able to rent a car at Honolulu airport and drop off at Waikiki area. This is the only rental company that i am aware of that does not charge a drop off fee. If you are only needing water and say a few juices or soft drinks there are plenty of minit mart type stores in the hotel area. I found one next door to the candy cane inn that had water by the case for a price compareable to say wal-mart. This store is to the right as you are exiting the Inn and jsut about 25 steps away :). If i remember correctly they had fresh pastry , salads, sandwiches and some hot convience foods. They all sold soups that are individual and microwaveable along with some frozen meal type foods. The best thing is the prices were not inflated.

Hope this helps

I like takeing the disney express from Orange county airport. It is the big bus not the small 10-15 seaters that the other companies use. I once had a driver that I must say drove 25 miles over the speed limit -- scared all of the passengers to death -- probe lucky we were not in a wreck. So from that moment on I take the big bus :).

Hope this information helps
