Hi! TYIA for your help! Question, if we want to drop our luggage off with the porters and then drop off the rental car as a family, is that possible? (I'm aware of families splitting up, but we can't). Sooo, I'm assuming it is ok to do it this way as DCL has us drop off our luggage before parking our car in the garage.

Should not be a problem. Once you drop your luggage off just don't go through the first security there where they scan your passport. Shouldn't be an issue at all (just make sure you are back in time to board) :-)

(I'm assuming you are going out of PC.)

Yes! Out of PC ... My memory is failing me, but from what I remember last June, we didn't have a choice about going through the security gate is there a different way to drop off the luggage without going through the security gate?

If you are going to drop off luggage and as a family drop off the car, when you arrive at the terminal, just tell the person directing traffic that you are dropping luggage off. They will point you to a spot where you can hand off your luggage to the porters. Be sure to keep your id/passport and any boarding documents you need with you to check in - this includes any items you need prior to your luggage arriving to your stateroom. Remember, any luggage handed to the porter means you won't see it until several hours later. Exit the terminal and return your rental car. You then will take the shuttle back to the terminal, showing your id to get to the security line (they probably will ask what your stateroom # is).

I think the previous poster means to not WALK through the security area. Not talking about the area to drive in.

Here is a picture of the port area. You enter from the far end of the picture. You will either pull up to the area next to the terminal (left side of photo) or pull up straight next to parking garage (right side). The porters will be in both areas to take your bags. Be sure to have your luggage tags o the bags so they are ready to go. And make sure you keep your day bag with you with passports, sunscreen, RX and paperwork you will need to check in. Then you can drive to the rental agency and take their shuttle back.
I'm not sure this will save you much time. People usually do this so only one person has to catch the shuttle

We just return the rental car and all get on the rental (this year it is Avis) shuttle with our luggage....

These help a TON!! THANK YOU!! Originally we were picking this option as to not clog up the shuttle bus with our luggage and thought it might be easier to drop luggage off 1st, but now looking through this thread the extra time it'll take to go through the port to drop off our luggage might be easier as the previous poster said and just go straight to the National car rental and return the car and hop on the shuttle with our luggage.
