Hey Everyone...we are flying into Sanford on Allegiant Air on Aug 6-15 and I have been trying with no luck so far finding a godo deal on a rental car. We usually get a minivan or SUV. Priceline has been been succesful as of yet and the going direct to sites has not provided a good deal so far. I am used to flying off season and getting killer deals on rentals. Does anyone know of any good deals or codes or promos or anything...Thanks

If you have an Entertainment book or AAA, try those. Or check retailmenot.com for promo codes.

You might be able to use ebates.com, too, but I don't know if they do rental cars. Ebates.com gives you a cash rebate of a certain percent when you use their website and go through it to shop.

We will also be there 8/5-8/9 (although we are renting out of MCO) and the prices are a tad high. Keep checking though, they usually start dropping about 1-2 weeks before your trip. I have an ok price with Alamo, but hopefully I can knock that down a bit in another few weeks.

Are you using codes from Mousesavers.com? They really help but I personally believe the killer deals that were once available no longer exist.

Yes, keep checking back because my rate dropped approximately $200 about a month before we left. I booked and rebooked every time they went down a couple dollars but this final drop was magnificent. Unfortunately, with only a few weeks now before you fly into MCO, they may not be dropping anymore than they already have.

We flew into Sanford a few weeks ago and I agree, car rentals @ Sanford are high. I started months before the trip and finally booked through Priceline only 6 days before our vacation. Ended up paying $15/day through Hertz. We had a 4 door Toyota Yaris. It was just fine for 3 of us. Fairly large trunk for luggage, etc. Total for Sunday - Saturday was $153.

I scoured the car rental websites, Hotwire, these boards, all over before going with Priceline. I was a bit apprehensive to use Priceline, but it was fine. We had always gone directly through Alamo previously, but could not see doing that this time with the rates they quoted.
