I booked with Alamo using the codes I found at mousesavers. I found the best for us was the Walmart customer code that gave us an additional driver for free. I also watched closely and found a coupon posted on the web.
Also, the rates changed often. If you go back into your original agreement and reenter the codes, the prices will be different. For me the price fell every time I checked (there are 2 Walmart customer code numbers so I would alternate between the two). The day before we flew out I checked one more time and dropped the price dropped again - at that point I upgraded our car size instead of taking the lower rate.
There were no questions at the counter - you can use a discount rate and one coupon on your rental. The pick up and drop off at the airport was very convenient. Also, when we walked down to the rental area we were approached by another rental company promising us that they would match or beat Alamo's rate we had. We chose to stay with Alamo.
I just suggest you keep trying. Even book with a couple of companies and cancel the one you don't want before you go - there's no charge for this.
