Has anyone used Fox Rent A Car out of the San Diego airport?

Hi there!

Although I have not used this rental car company, I wanted to throw in my two cents about rentals in general!!

In my intense research for our upcoming trip I found the best deals to be throught the car rental agency websites themselves. Also, the farther out you book your vehicles the better rate you will get. Of the times that we have gone with a rental Alamo always seems to be the best deal. I used the Entertainment book rate (along with a coupon) and got a rate of 483.00 for a van for 15 days. I booked this in June. If I were to go onto their site now and use the same coupons I'd be paying more than double!!

So regardless of which company you go with, book early!

We are just back from San Diego. We rented from Alamo and had a very unhappy experience. I absolutely do not recommend them! We had a good deal through Costco but their customer service was beyond bad and the vehicle was not in good shape.

As long as your pick up and return are at the same place, I find Hotwire to have the best rates - especially near your travel dates. So I reserve with a Costco coupon early, and keep checking hotwire since there are no cancellation charges.
A friend of mine just rented w/Hotwire in Santa Ana Airport - 3 days for $60 total!

Fox has been around a while, but I've never used them. Usually these smaller companies are off-airport and you need time for a shuttle - but you save the on-airport extra fee all the majors charge. Just watch out for extra charges that aren't apparent up-front.
