Rental Car codes/coupons

Does anyone know of any coupons or discount codes for rental cars? For the times that I want to go, the rates are crazy. I tried my Sam's Club discount and the rates are still over $250.00 for 4 days. Can anyone help me?

Go to Mousesavers.com and click on the left side for rental car codes. It has a great listing for all the major car rental companies. I've used the codes listed and have gotten fabulous deals.

Check out carrentals.com. I've rented from the site several times. They do not require you to hold a reservation with a credit card. I generally book rentals when the rates great, but keep checking rates up until we leave.

We got a great rate from the site for our Orlando rental car in October. When we dropped the car off, the woman checking over the vehicle from Enterprise said, "Wow, you got a great rate."

Wow, I completely forgot about Mousesavers (and I get their monthly newsletter). I guess my mind is somewhere else tonight (trying to watch the football games and plan a vacation, not a good mix).

I totally forgot about carrentals.com. I just booked a car for next week for $96 from Payless. I kmow it is off the airport, but I had another booked from SW from Thrifty for $114. I saved another $20. That's 4 meals...

The WalMart code on Mousesavers gives you the second driver for free.

Mousesavers had a deal listed that if you used your American Express card at budget you could get a minivan for a week for $199. Pretty good deal, and it was only about a week ago.

I got a mid-size for 10 days Jan. 23-Feb 1 through Alamo for $165 including fees! Make sure you compare fees!!!

I used the Walmart code (which also gives you a free second driver) contract ID 7014664 and coupon AD2051MMD. Also, try those combinations with all of the coupons listed on their website.

Check later at night, their rates seem to go down. When I got ours last Monday, the price dropped about $60 from when I looked at lunch time and about 10pm. Next day, it's back up again.

If you have some time before you travel, check back often to see if your rate falls using the same codes. Also try entering the time of pick up on the hour rather than the half hour as it can make a huge difference! On many trips to Orlando, I booked several months in advance and the rate often fell dramatically as I checked back. I would cancel the previous reservation and rebook with the lower quote. I think our lowest rental was last February when we rented a midsize for a week for less than $90 through Alamo. We went to the kiosk and did self check in which took about two minutes. I love avoiding the counter! Then you walk across to the garage, pick out the car you want, and just produce your kiosk documentation and driver's license at the gate and away you go.

Yes, there are several machines next to the rental counter downstairs. Then go out the doors and there's a walkway that leads to the garage which is right across that street. We take our luggage with us, go up on the elevator one floor, and the cars are all listed by company. It's so very easy!

Last time we got there late in the day and all the midsize cars were gone so we got to take a full size at no extra charge. I wouldn't mind that happening again.

I think the airport location gives the best rates and would be more convenient for pick up and return.

No, I have used that code several times and have never had to produce a paper coupon. When you make the reservation, the code is applied and the discount figured into your quote. Be sure it says "additional driver free" when you book online and can read the document.
