I want to rent a car at MCO on a Friday and return it to a DTD hotel on Saturday.

I have checked Dollar, Avis, Alamo, National and Budget. Alamo is cheaper by about $11.00, the others are comparable.

I have heard horror stories about the wait at Alamo's counter at MCO.

Since we have a credit card with a lower credit limit, I also need a company that doesn't "hold" a large deposit until we rent a car. (This is actually the most important factor in this whole decision).

Which rental company would be my best choice. I don't mind paying the extra $$ if I will be able to get out of the airport quicker.

Thanks,
Tammy

Hi,

We just returned and rented with Budget. I used my mastercard and got an AMAZING deal--$111 for 5 days, it was special when you use your Mastercard, and I also got a class upgrade--so I was sporting around in a 2004 Focus--Yee-Ha! As for the credit card, I'm in the same boat, the only put $200 on the card to hold then charged the $111 upon return. Also if you go with Budget apply for the fastbreak--its free, and you don't need to wait in any line @ the airport--you just car to the key pickup booth and you give your license and they give you the keys and you're off
:teeth: When you turn your application in for fastbreak--fax it in--so it processes your request quicker---it only took 10 days via fax--Ta-Da!!!Good luck and if have any ?'s fell free to ask :wave2:
Oh also--from what I saw the line at Alamo was out of control--2 people working and line was wrapped 5 times !! yikes--no way to start a vacation :(

National puts a hold on the card for the actual amount of the rental. Alamo charges you the quoted price at checkin, no additional holds.
Dollar puts a large hold on the card as does Budget.
Dee just rented from Alamo earlier this month and waited no more than ten minutes. When Alamo is busy, National reps. help out.

Does anyone know if Avis puts a hold or charges an additional amount over the rental charges on your credit card?

Thanks

I got into MCO two weeks ago Wednesday at 11 AM and had no wait at Alamo. I turned the car in that Saturday night at 11 PM and picked up a van and had about a 1/2 hour wait. I liked Alamo because they let you pick whatever vehicle you wanted on the lot (in your class). I dropped the van off at Disney Car Care Center and got a ride back to AKL via their shuttle. Overall a good experience. They try to sell you insurance but just say "No".
