We are arriving at WDW on Sept 10th and will be renting a car; most likely from Dollar as that is the cheapest rate so far. They have a vague disclaimer that basically says 'more and more toll roads in this area are pass tolls only no attendants or coin machines so you should get PASS24'. Unfortunately there are no details and I know rental car agencies are notorious for 'add-ons'. I want to know if anyone had experience with this or think its necessary? We are planning to go from MCO to WDW and then stay in WDW no plans to visit other places. Thanks!

We were there this past May and paid cash at the toll booth. One thing I will mention is to make sure you get a receipt for the tolls. Some people have reported they paid cash and then a few days after they turned in the rental they got a bill saying they owed for an unpaid toll. So always get a reciept. Of course if you use the unmanned booth you won't get a reciept :(

I'm not aware of any toll booths in the Orlando area that are pass-only. Bring a roll of quarters and some small bills with you, and you should have no worries.

All toll booths in Orlando will at least take quarters. But on that note make sure that you get the green light before going, as a lot of the toll booths will malfunction and not catch the quarter in the slot. Just toss a penny in and it usually fixes it. Or just go to the attendant where possible, they're pretty fast, especially if you pay in singles.

Also there's no way the rental company could know you violated a toll by the time you turn the car in, it takes the city a couple weeks to issue citations for toll violations.

Make sure you read the sign as you approach that says how much the toll is. Don't be shocked when $.50 doesn't cover a $.75 toll.

We'll be getting receipts at all toll booths in Oct...just in case.
