Rental age requirement & AKL transportation

Couple questions:

1.) I am going to WDW 2 months before my 25th b-day, so I do not meet the age requirement for major rental companies. This means I will have to pay an additional $150 ($25/day) on top of the normal price. Does anybody know a reputable/reliable company who does not charge this?

2.) Does AKL share Diney transportation with other resorts?

I can't answer your car rental question. However, I am like 99.999999% sure that the AKL does not share buses with any other Disney resort. This is one reason so many people like staying there.

Do you work for a company that has a contract with a car rental agency? Many of them will waive the extra fee.

AKL does not share busses with any other hotel as far as I know...I feel your pain about the extra fees...but I got another 2.5 years before I am over the rental car hill!

I think Enterprise and EZ-Rental have lower surcharges for under age drivers. One of the student organizations had a card that offered students car rental without surcharges. The problem: you had to use a special rate code and basically the surcharge was included in the rate instead of being listed separately. The program was dropped when people figured it out.

Staying on Disney property and using ME and Disney transportation makes sense.

Wow thanks for the info Lewisc. I looked their sites and they are cheaper. E-Z Rent-A-Car's surcharge is $90 ($15/day). Much better than the rest. Anybody else have any opinions on E-Z? I know they are affiliated with L&M.

Make sure you have rental coverage in with your personal auto policy and bring a copy with you. You don't want to be pressured or even forced to purchase the optional coverages.

I'd skip the rental car. Stay onsite. Use ME to get to your resort. You can take a cab, towncar or Mears shuttle if you want to go to Universal for a day.

Fall back position, see if you can just rent a car for a few days. EZ rental has an office on 192 and on I Drive. You should save some of the airport surcharges.
