Rent two single strollers or one double?

I have a 2 and 4 y.o. and thought that maybe we'd split up at some point. This could only be acheived with renting two singles. Is renting 2 singles a PITA?

When we went, we assumed that we would rent a double and both kids would ride. DS was 4 and DD 2. We brought our cheap umbrella stroller to use in the airport. Our first day at MK, I paid for the full week rental for a double. Well, DS suddenly decided that he wanted to walk (he never wanted to walk when we go to the zoo or mall) AND DD hated being in the MK stroller (although DS never had that issue when he was 2). We were completely amazed that DS was willing and able to walk the entire time.

The second day we ended up pushing the empty double while DS walked and DD was carried! So the third day DD rode in the umbrella stroller (much harder to push than the disney ones). When we went back at night we got a single for DS and kind of coerced him to ride in it but it was crowded and dark and was so much easier to keep track of him in the stroller. That's what we did the rest of the trip. We couldn't "return" the stroller rental but we were able to change it to a single and get a refund of the difference.

The whole point is, you just never know what the kids are going to be like when you get there. I would recommend waiting until your first day at the parks to decide. Also, we really didn't end up splitting up except in the Land (so stroller was outside) and when DH and DS rode Test Track (we stayed in the Seas aquarium).

I vote for double. I hate to push the stroller and if we have a double my husband pushes it 95% of the time. I get to relax.
