Ok we are new owners (bought less than a year ago) We did a small contract (60 points) because we wanted to pay cash instead of finance and we had that much at the time. We are planning to add on later, but for our trip this year we are going to have to do some renting/transferring/borrowing.

So I have read and searched for my answers, but I want to make sure I am clear

#1 - we need about 30 points to reach what we need for our vaca.

#2 - if we find someone to rent those from they can do a transfer essentially giving us these points (after they receive payment)?

#3 say we book a ressie at our home resort (SSR) at 11 months - will those "transferred points" need to be from SSR?

(here's where is get's tricky)

Say we need 150 for our ressie at SSR we have
25 banked
50 current year
25 we are going to borrow from 2014
50 - renting (transferring)

=150 for the ressie.

but at 6 months we find a resort that uses less points (125)and we switch resorts...

what about extra 25.....if they are borrowed do they go back to 2014, or will we now be stuck with 25 in the 2014 year that we now have to use.

I know I am probably making this more complicated than necessary, but I want to make sure before I make a mistake :)

i'd be clear to say "transfer" and not "rent." someone might have pts to "rent" that cannot be "transferred."

if you bank or borrow pts, that is it for those pts. you cannot put them back or otherwise move them again - they will expire if not used by the end of their new UY.

thanks :) i thought so :)

You should bank the current year and use the borrowed points for the less point reservation if you are still in your banking window.

This is another example where UY does really matter.

my uy is March....so when I cancel our home resort reservation (if we can find a better reservation) I can choose which points to use again - meaning I can choose to use my banked, borrowed, trnsferred and some of my current year - then bank the unused portion of my current year (correct?)

(thanks for your help.....I know one day I will be well versed but right now it is all new to me = lol)

You have until the end of Oct to bank the now available regular points. The borrowed points from the prior UY and the borrowed points from the next UY must be used or forfeited.

Banking and borrowing are final transactions and can only be done once with any given point(s).
