Rent/Trade questions..

Is this the right place to ask questions about this?

If so, I did a points transfer a while back and now have some I need to get rid of (the reason we did the transfer didn't work out completely). These points will expire at the end of July of this year.

I am stuck doing rents, correct? I can't transfer the points out to anyone? What exactly are the rules on that?

Any thoughts on going through eBay to get rid of them. I am near a 7 month window, that I could use the points to book say Beach Club and have a vacation week already booked, and sell it on there? Does that work well? Or am I better off renting the points here?

Yes, you want to rent points. You cannot transfer any points, in or out, because you already did one when you received the points. So you will have to rent the points out, and be in charge of someone else's reservation. This is more involved, but you have no choice.

I have never rented weeks on ebay, because I am philosophically opposed to that. You have a much greater chance of fraud there. I would prefer renting my points on the Rent/Trade Board where most of the people are either members or friends. Many of them are clueless about DVC, but seldom is anyone outright dishonest on the Rent/Trade. I love ebay, but, sadly, I have been a victim of fraud there. Unless you are very saavy, I would avoid ebay.

I have rented points about a half dozen times now and have never had a problem. As a matter of fact, I have a nice relationship with the renter now.
If you do your homework, and do exactly as the "rent thread" instructs, you
will be fine and everyone goes "home" happy. Best of luck!
