We booked 2 rooms at AKL for late April. Can we get a fridge for our room? My son (4 yrs) drinks about a 1/2 gallon OJ every day, thats what I need the fridge for. His father has gotten him used to the pulp free Tropicana, so nothing else will do!

I'm also considering Fed Xing a small coffee maker down to myself the day before we leave. The refillable mugs are great, but I like a cup of java first thing and I'm NOT a pretty sight before my shower!;) Anyone ever mail themselves a package?

I can't help with the mailing the package question, but I do know that you can rent a fridge. They are a little over $10 per day.

I would not bother renting a fridge, but try what we did. We took one of the waste can's, put our milk, juice, capri suns, and water in it, then took the plastic bag, filled it with ice and poured it into the waste can. The can was clean, we made sure of that. Each morning we would pour out the water, then fill it up again. Housekeeping never had a problem with it and we made sure that no mess was made. This saved us $$.

I had a box packed filled with stuff, including a disposable cooler, to take with me on the plane, but we went 2 weeks after 9/11 and decided to leave it at home, since we knew it would either be searched or confiscated. Plan on sending one this year or just pack another suitcase with the stuff.

We didn't request a fridge but when we got to our room there was one already in there. And we weren't charged for it. We would have just gotten some ice. I never find we really use the fridge enough to pay extra for it.

Ten dollars a day to keep five dollars worth of food cold! I remember when a free fridge was perk of spending $200 plus a night at a deluxe. Now they charge $10/day for a $50 fridge. The fridge has gone from a perk to a revenue source for the resorts. I refuse to pay for the fridge. Whew, I've vented, now I feel better.

I just bring a soft cooler in our luggage and fill it with ice every 2 days. You can buy a cooler for under $20. Be sure it is big enough to handle your snack supplies.

About the coffeemaker - call housekeeping when you get there and they will bring you a coffeemaker,.

If you're renting a car, stop at the 7-11 on the way in from the airport and buy a cooler for about $13-15. It was one of the smartest things we did.

We use Tiffany TownCar service $80.00 round trip with a 1/2 hour grocery stop. You can get a $4.00 styrfoam cooler & your juice. They have a $5.00 coupon on thier web site. Its cheaper than a taxi.
