Rent a Car vs Disney Transportation

My choice wasn't really there.
We use Disney transportation and car rentals back and forth during our stay. Use our rental car to shop for groceries, visit relatives in FL, the water parks, DD and resort to resort dining.
Use DT mostly for going back and forth to the theme parks.
We couldn't be without a car.....but love DT too. So it's the best of both worlds for us.

We usually drive from Ct. but oddly enough we park the beast (ford excursion) and take dt. However this time around (12/31 - 1/9) we think we will try and drive ourselves for our ADRs seeing how we can save at least a good hour and a half per.

We're the strange ones. DH will not fly and I absolutely refuse to listen to "where are we? or Are we there yet?" So DD and I fly and take ME to the resort and DH drives to the resort. Once everyone is at the resorts we use ME for the parks and drive twhereever we are dining. Cost a little more doing it this way but the one time I drove with DH & DD I decided I didn't care how much it cost I was never going through that torture again!

We do both. We use DT to get to the parks, but we rent a car so that we easily go from resort to resort, and stop at the grocery store.

We've had very good experiences so far with ME. I like not having to schlep our luggage around once we get there, and dh likes relaxing and letting someone else drive (his job involves a lot of driving). We've had quick transportation, the buses are pleasant & comfy, and no luggage problems, so we'd definitey vote for ME.

We also love the boats and the monorails on property. But the buses sometimes leave a lot to be desired. We had a few way-too-long wait times for busses at OKW this May, which was very frustrating. We're actually considering renting a car just for use while onsite so we don't have to rely on slow and overcrowded busses to the parks, or worry about missing ADRs.

So I would say, "Some of both", however in the opposite way as described in the poll!

My choice wasn't really covered. We always rent a car for getting back and forth to the airport and to have for grocery shopping and doing inter-resort dinner reservations, but we always use Disney transportation for parks and park activities.

This is our plan too. We have spent several vacations hopping from resort to park to resort just for a meal. It has taken us anywhere from 45mins to 1 hour to do this. Way too much of my precious vaca time IMO. ME has been great but one year it took almost 2 hours from ME check-in to our resort. So, this will be our first trip trying it with a rental car. We will only use it for a grocery run and to and from resort dining ressies.

ETA: We have little kids so that is another reason too---they just don't have the patience to hop around from bus to bus.
