Renewing DVD ap

On the next trip we need to renew our annual pass. When we arrive we will still have a few days before expiration on our pass. We want to upgrade this time to a pap. How does this happen? Will our new pap have a start date. Eg from Aug 7 th 2012 to 2013. Trying to understand if we renew on Aug 1st and upgrade to a pap and are given the new passes what would stop us accessing the Pap benefits such as water parks when really we hadn't paid for that option with the original ap? I'm confused can anyone help/explain ?

When you renew, they issue a new pass for the renewal which will be effective on your anniversary date (expiration date of current AP). Your current AP will still be valid until the printed expiration date.

You have 3 choices(only 2 of which make financial sense)-
1- you can renew with Premium APs and not use any of the other entitlements until you new ap starts.
2- you can get your new AP when you arrive instead of renewing and begin using the premium entitlements right away.
3- If you want to use the premium entitlements before your renewal date you can upgrades your current passes (they do not prorate so you would be paying for the entire year of premium for the last few days) and then renew with premium.
