Has anyone done this before? Or something similar? I am looking at renewing my pass this year as a Signature instead of SoCal. Since you can renew your pass up to 40 days before expiration, when do the new blackout dates go into effect? If my expiration date is 9/2 and I renew 8/12 (for example), from 8/12-9/2 would I have the Signature or SoCal blackout dates?

Your upgrade won't go into effect until the old pass expires, so 9/2 in your example.

If you downgrade, it takes effect immediately. I moved from Premium to Deluxe this May and lost a month (pass expired mid-June). I didn't realize that was the case, so when my parking got denied, I went in and complained. They refunded it, but that's a hassle (and I lost the discount, too). The employee who refunded my parking mentioned that she basically thinks it's a racket that downgrades take place immediately but upgrades don't (she said so in a much more tactful way). It honestly really irritates me because I paid for a full year of a Premium pass!

Anyway, sorry for the OT part, but upgrades are delayed until expiration, downgrades aren't.

Has Disney offered you a discount to renew your pass? I heard they didn't do that with the new signature passes?

Thanks for the info. That is absolutely ridiculous. That makes just no sense whatsoever.

They offered me one last year to renew to a Sig or Sig+ and several others have posted about getting renewal discounts as well. You get a higher discount renewing to a Sig+ than a Sig.

I did not take advantage, though, because I let my Premium expire and used a Premium voucher to get my pass back (they issue Sig+ passes for those vouchers if the voucher isn't expired).
